Why itsFurnished Verifies Every Host
Your phone and ID are checked before your listing can go live. Here is what that involves, who sees what, and why it makes this platform feel different.
The itsFurnished Team·
Before your home can be published, three things about you are confirmed: your email, your phone number, and your ID. Your email was confirmed when you signed in. The other two take a few minutes.
Why we ask
Every host on itsFurnished is identity-verified, and every guest verifies a phone number before they can send you a request. Every conversation starts with a request, so the people who contact you are real, reachable, and actually looking for a home.
If you have listed elsewhere, you know the alternative: fake inquiries, scrapers, and scams. For a stay measured in months, where you are choosing who lives in your home, that matters more than anywhere else.
What happens
Each has its own screen in the listing flow, and a screen is skipped once there is nothing left to do on it.
- ID: you photograph a government ID and take a selfie. Stripe runs the check. You need a subscription on a home to start one.
- Phone: you confirm your number with a code sent by text. Your number is never shown on your profile or listing.
Guests never see your ID. They only see that you are identity verified.
Hosts approved in person may get a code that makes the subscription free. That counts as the ID check, so the ID screen is skipped.
While your check is processing
ID checks usually clear quickly, but not always instantly. Once yours has started, you can keep working on your listing.
Your home cannot be published until the check passes. We email you when it does. If it fails, we email you too, and you can try again. If it keeps failing, contact us.
